Welcome to the home of the Rhode Island Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and Bicycle Mobility Plan (BMP). The Project Team will be using this website, and other tools, to engage and communicate with the public. We look forward to providing updates on project happenings and progress. If you have any comments or questions, please share them with us. We will compile your comments and review them with the Project Team.

Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)

The purpose of the Long-Range Transportation Plan is to develop a vision for transportation in the state over a 20 year planning horizon. This vision is comprehensive, covering all transportation modes (e.g. automobiles, public transit trains and buses, ferries) and sectors (e.g. commuter travel, freight). Learn more about the LRTP »

Bicycle Mobility Plan (BMP)

The Bicycle Mobility Plan (BMP) will take a more detailed look at the specific conditions, needs, and gaps surrounding bicycle infrastructure and operations in the State of Rhode Island and identify strategies and projects that could help close gaps, improve bicycling in the State, and achieve the 20 year vision set out by the Long-Range Transportation Plan. Transit Master Plan (TMP)

In mid-2018 Rhode Island's first multimodal Transit Master Plan got under way. Much like the BMP, the Transit Master Plan will do a deep dive on the condition, needs, and future solutions to the transit network. For the first time ever in Rhode Island, all transit modes (bus, rail, and ferry) will come together under one plan. To learn more about the TMP and to get involved visit its website TransitForwardRI.com.
